Asian Refugees United (ARU) is a refugee-led art and healing leadership center that cultivates and restores wholeness in communities impacted by displacement. Our work centers the voices of the Vietnamese and Bhutanese refugee communities who fled persecution in their home countries only to face new and shared struggles resettling in East Oakland. We build intergenerational and interethnic power through leadership development, political education, community organizing, social movement building, storytelling, artistic and cultural practices, and cross-cultural communications.
